Vegas Trombonist established in 2018

This journey started after losing my California home in 2017 in the Napa-Sonoma County wildfire.

AND -  rebuilding in a new home in Las Vegas in 2018 in the community of Siena in the  Summerlin area.

Background History

My father was 66 years old when I was born and my mother was 36 years old.  My mother had 5 children within 5 years.  I have a twin sister Connie and 3 brothers.  My mother was a music teacher and we all played lots of music in our early school days (1944-54 in MN and TX) ,  college days (1955-59 in TX),  and played the trombone for pleasure with friends (1960-1963 on Midway Island, U.S.  Naval Air Station while serving in the pacific with AEWBARRONPAC in the US Navy Air).

After 1963 - I didn't play any music until 2018.  Upon moving to Las Vegas in 2018 my Las Vegas daughter Lisa and granddaughters Nora and Sona (my Las Vegas Muchachas !!) encouraged me to start playing the trombone again.  It has been a blast !!  playing music with family and friends.  Starting a new musical life that I left when I was 23 years old.

YES - Good always follows bad,

YES - Life begins in your 80's - and -

Yes - Las Vegas is EXCITING & FUN.

Below is an article from the Tulane University Brass Band website on their recent LP music album production:

"Tulane University's Green Wave Brass Band went into the studio in the Spring of 2023 to record a special project to celebrate the return of a very special Tulane University Marching Band bass drum head from 1932 by a descendant of Godfrey Hirsch! Hirsch was a section leader in the band when they played USC in the Rose Bowl and went on to become a drummer and arranger for legendary New Orleans clarinetist, Pete Fountain.

While in Pete Fountain's band, Hirsch wrote a tune called "Sugar Bowl Parade" that became the theme song for the famous college football bowl game held annually in New Orleans. When Hirsch's grandson gifted this painted calf-skin drum head back to the band, we decided to learn and record this classic piece of New Orleans and Tulane history. Junior clarinetist Sona Shirinian shines in this version of Sugar Bowl Parade and other New Orleans brass band standards along with the 2022-23 Green Wave Brass Band."
